Help AUX input and my GM Car

Heartburn

Lurker
Ok, I have the HTC Inspire for AT&T and I have been having a problem lately. With my iphone, I could connect the phone to my car (using the USB) and it would automatically show up as an auxiliary input, which was cool because I could run Pandora directly through my car stereo.

When I plug in my Inspire, it doesn't automatically register on my car as an aux input...therefore, I can't use it to play Pandora. Is there a setting I'm missing here to use my phone for this purpose? I've looked through the settings and can't seem to find anything.

Has anyone else had (and solved) this problem?

I can connect and stream pandora, etc. via my inspire both via the aux and via bluetooth. I do not do anything differently, I just connect it and the music source transfers to the car's audio.

Do you use the USB connection to connect when you do it without bluetooth?

Same with my husband he just plugs in his phone and it automatically switches to his car speakers to play through. He has a dodge Avenger.

I have a 2011 BMW 535. I always use bluetooth, however I know I have streamed via the USB cable and or AUX. I will verify this weekend. In my 2006 Honday Odyssey, I also stream via AUX cable without any issues.

mrcamp, what kind of car do you drive?

UPDATE: I started using a 3.5mm headset connection to the aux input in the car and that works fine now. It doesn't charge the phone (which sucks) but I am at least free from listening to the same 10 songs on a loop on the radio. Thanks for your feedback.

Maybe I have a bad cable or something but I am having issues as well. When plugged into USB port on car AND using aux in on radio Audio player sometimes goes NUTZ!..... all audio player on phone will do this. Realplayer, HTC player...whatever. starts out by jumping songs really quickly, the pausing and starting quickly....barely can shut them down. Havent had this issue at all when charging at home and using headphones. or just using audio player on speaker.
