Help Aux port outport severly distorted

Last weekend, I used my Note 2 with Google Play Music and a Ryobi P741 portable speaker/radio on a mission trip. It worked fine on day one but when I went to use it on day two, all I got was distortion (like poor radio station reception, at best) and I have to turn the volume all the way up on it. It does this in the car now, too. All volumes are all the way up (Media, Ringtone, Notifications, System). I've tried swapping cables in the car (can't do that on the portable speaker/radio). I've also tried the stock media player and it does the same thing. My husband's phone works fine on the portable speaker/radio, so it is definitely something with my Note! No major updates, like firmware. All kinds of app updates, but really none that should have affected that, and I don't think it ran any updates while we were on the trip. Thoughts?

Hi

I'm guessing that the earphones dont work well either?

Maybe some dirt/moisture in the 3.5mm socket on your note 2 causing the problem. Try blowing it out with dry compressed air.

Didn't even try the earphones as I never use them, so tested after your suggestions and yes, the same...so, I tried compressed air and no change. Then I tried a pipe cleaner (bent, so as not to scratch anything), and still no change. Then, I tried an interdental toothbrush (bristles are firmer than a pipe cleaner) and still no change. Guess I'll be replacing it. Thanks for the suggestion, though! At least it led me somewhere!
