Root Auxura 2.1 or 2.2?

tacotim

Newbie
I've been running my phone stock since i got it but want to dive into some custom roms. I was all set to go with auxura 2.1 when i found out 2.2 is out. But it looks like a few folks have been having trouble with 2.2?
Just wondering if anyone has any advice on which one to go for. I'm looking for a daily driver here.

thanks, tim

I use Axura 2.2 as my daily driver. I am also using the super IO kernel and OCLF and the phone is fast, smooth, and reliable. It wasn't with voodoo. At least not for me. I think most of the issues people were having with 2.2 involved not clearing the cache before flashing from another ROM, but that is just my hypothesis of what happened based on what I have seen posted. Try it out, and if you don't like it, you can always flash something else. If you do the super IO like I did, make sure you go in and wipe your battery stats. If any of this is overwhelming to you, feel free to PM me. I just started doing this a week ago, and I have learned a lot from trial and error. I have soft bricked my phone 3 times, and have managed to get it back running every time, so I would be happy to share all of my tips and tricks with you.

I ran 2.1 and had no issues asside from my screen rotation didnt always stay checked. Have that problem with 2.2 as well but 2.2 runs really good and it isnt laggy at all like 2.1 was and 2.1 wasnt bad, but had a bit of it. However, some people have MMS issues with 2.2. They get wrror messages and i had an issue but didnt get errors. It just wouldnt send but i downloaded a MMS file in a thread at
Devs4android.com and that got it working. But it does take a while for it to send, but it works.

I havent tried any others ROMs other than Axura but ive seen anmy say it is hte best after they have tried them all. Thereis one other id like to try and that is the leaked stock version of 2.2 which is called JL5 but havent tried it yet. But i know SamsungVibrant is using it and he likes it.

well, i've got 2.2 installed now and WOW, it's snappy. So far so good. Thanks for the help everyone. I'll let you know if i run into any trouble.
