AV out (Not HDMI)

mr fred

Newbie
I want:

An Android phone with AV out.
It has to be AV (The 3 plugs) as I want to bung the output into a projector so HDMI is useless.
The ability to watch a film in a hotel room is a bonus.
I like Samsung but I'm not going to get that fussy as the function is more important than the manufacturer.
Other than that, AGPS is a must along with a 4 to 5 inch screen.

The Samsung phones all seem to have gone to HDMI and lost the AV feature.
IMHO, this is an error but I don't run a massive company so they probably don't care what I think.

Any ideas?

Samsung don't do a thing so that's them out of it.
I know HTC do a lead for some phones but I can't find the info I need as yet.

A polite, very nice and helpful email just arrived from HTC.
Drawn a blank there as well.
Looks like I'm stuffed.

My Htc Doubleshot (mytouch 4g slide) does what you are talking about, I use it all the time. I have a cable that goes from my headphone jack to rca cables. It is great, because even older tvs have an rca hookup.

That looks nice.
I wonder if I can get hold of one out here.

Thanks for that.
For some reason not all cables will work with it, you need to get the cables that are for the original Ipod, or Zune. Here is a link to the thread at xda discussing it, and a link to the cable that I bought that works great for me.
Tv out? - xda-developers
Amazon.com: 3.5mm RCA Audio Video AV Cable for iPod: Electronics

It works great for streaming Netflix or playing games, or showing off photos or videos.

For some reason not all cables will work with it,

No worries.
As a genius, I can make my own cables. :smokingsomb:

It's just getting the pin outs right. I have a bunch her I use for other devices. If none work, I'll just chop the 3.5 jack off and rewire with a new plug.
Easy peasy.
