Root [Avail] How to root ZTE Avail that is from AT&T, with most current easy procedure?

Looking for any resources and or current how-to on how to root the Avail. I have come across several forum posts but either seem outdate or have broken links to files and ROMS needed to root the device. My main goal to root is to be able to move applications to the SD card as this phone quickly runs out of space in the internal storage. Also any advice on what to do before rooting would be great. I have read guides that talk about backing up your current ROM but all those require the devicec to be rooted. Greatly appricate any help.
 
If I use the T-Card method to install the older version, do I have to keep my phone from upgrading to keep root, or will root stay even if you upgrade pushed out software updates?
