I am currently going for my private pilot license and had an idea for an app that would be handy. I was curious if anyone knew how to get the METAR data from an airport specified by an ICAO and have it show up on a homescreen widget. I know there a several aviation weather apps with METAR widgets, but I have a slightly different idea for one. I am looking for some open source stuff that I can tweak into my own app. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
