Residents fight cell-tower plan at Peoria funeral chapel

"Clearwire, which is building a 4G network, has had a flurry of applications in the Valley. The Washington state-based wireless company has withdrawn applications in Chandler and Gilbert, exploring other sites, after protests. An application in Mesa was outright denied. "

Trying to spin this positive... Looks like they are trying to get 4G in Metro Phoenix .

Man Arizona is just weird. I can't figure that state out at all. Must be onset of crazy produced by living on the Sun.

It's all the NIMBY's who don't want any technology getting in the way of their precious views. If it were me, I'd let Sprint/Clear put a tower in my backyard and they pay me rental fees. :D

I wonder what they look like
I wonder too. There are some of these around town disguised as saguaro cacti and from a distance, you can't tell any difference. Wonder if 4G towers can be hidden like this or do they look like the regular antennas?

I've seen a bunch of the palm tree ones. the cactus ones would just look silly unless they were on a mountain / hill top. A 40' cactus will stick out like a sore thumb - lol.

You really don't notice it unless you look for it.

I had to laugh one night. I was reading reviews of local restaurants on the Yelp app and one of my favorite watering holes has 3 or 4 of these cacti antennas on their property. Someone wrote in the review that they have these fake looking cacti outside, etc. Obviously, not a cell phone junkie like us. :p

Good news, kind of, lol. At least they are trying! Thanks for the find.

I've been researching permits for 4g here in Tucson and no fights yet...in fact my kids' school district just approved towers on two schools, one about a mile from my house...just waiting now.

For those here, I found permits near the tucson mall, pima/alvernon, off I19 and in Marana...
