Back, Home and App buttons disappeared - Advent Tegra Note.

Hi folks,

I have had my Tegra Note for a couple of months now and on the whole I love it, but I hit a weird problem last night that resulted in having to do a factory reset to get it working again properly!

I have no idea what happened, I hadn't recently added any new apps, but I found that the three soft buttons along the bottom (Back, Home and Open Apps) had vanished, meaning the only way I could stop doing one thing and go to something else was to reboot! I admit it, I hate soft buttons and always have because I've always suspected something like this could be all too likely to happen, but there we go.

It was almost as if the display had gone 'full screen' if that makes any sense, pushing the buttons off the bottom of the screen. I couldn't find anything about this online and my only recourse was to do a factory reset, meaning I've lost everything I had installed (although only a couple of months worth, so not disastrous).

Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas of a solution in case it happens again? (Tablet running 4.4.2, not rooted)

Cheers!

You know, come to think of it, the two notification bars at the top were missing too - it was exactly as though the 'content' portion of the screen had gone fullscreen.

In the full screen mode you can simply swipe accross the screen to show the buttons and the status bar. I think that was introduced in 4.4.

Thanks for the suggestion, I didn't know about the addition of full screen mode in Kitkat, but from reading up just now it appears you have to have a special app installed to make use of it? I did try swiping up and down many times in an attempt to get the buttons back but it didn't work, so I don't think that was what was going on.
