Back space key?

Hi, I'm a novice with the Desire. Does any body know where the back-space ( not the delete key) is? How do I alter something a few words back without having to erase everything to get to it? Thanks

On my Optimus S(no back-space key), I tap the screen (with a finger) where I want the cursor, then do my editing. Your Desire may do the same.
