Back to Chrome

funkylogik

share the love peeps ;)
So I've been trying to wean myself back to Chrome browser "coz its Google" and just discovered a killer feature.
Highlight a word and a card pops up with a definition and some search results.
That to me is the main reason I'm going to make chrome my #1 browser (i never set a default)
The one thing I moss from Dolphin is auto text wrapping when you zoom in as I have bad eves but luckily most sites these days are pretty well optimised for mobile and if need be I just use Browser Switch https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nkj.app.browserswitch to switch to dolphin.
So there it is, today's news, Smity has changed browsers.
What other cool and unique things can chrome do?
Cheers

I started using Chrome recently with my S5. I'm not a fan of the browser tabs. It was much easier to navigate around with Firefox, but Chrome is much faster in general. Is there an add-on that will allow for tabbing within the app? I don't know if it's just because my S5 has the "menu" button on the phone, but it forces me to use that and navigate through all my apps and tabs instead of just viewing tabs within chrome.

Must admit I've never had more than one tab open at a time lol such a noob.
So is the "recents" screen now the only way to switch tabs?
Well that's annoying because I've mapped that button to turn my screen off instead lol

Good chrome features
+ Sync bookmarks and tabs.
+ Reduce data usage.
+ Material design, if it matters to ...edit-Not sure if chrome really has this.
+++ More secure, depending on your view (why not trust one big well known company with all your sensitive private data from email, browsing, etc rather then spreading that data around among several smaller less known companies. I like google better as both trustworthy and competent to protect my sensitive data).

Some things Firefox has that I wish chrome had
- save to read it later list
- save to pdf
-your three most common share destinations easily reachable
-brief pop-up after you open a link in new tab makes it easy to choose to go to new tab or remain in old tab
- video downloader add on
-abp add on
I won't hold my breath for Google to get those last two!

I bounce back and forth. I use chrome for sites I visit frequently (they tend to be in my bookmarks, firefox bookmarks can't be organized on the phone) and for sensitive sign ins and credit card transactions etc. I use mozilla when surfing news and somewhat random links where lots of ads may appear.

They tend to hide stuff there that they have coded but not deemed worthy to incorporate into the app settings. Either because it is not useful enough to the averavage user to merit cluttering up the menus, or because it is somewhat a beta feature they are not 100% comfortable with.

It's not exactly an intuitive way to access a setting, is it!?
But then again........ these are the same people who expect you to know that you should tap seven times on build number to expose the developer options menu :)
