Root Back to Eclair 2.1 or Something better?

Hi Guys, New here my first post. Had my Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate for 2 years. Never upgraded...Until Last week...from 2.1 was a big mistake..it sucks now.

Here are my current specs:
Hardware V. I500.04
Model. SCH-I500
Firmware v. 2.3.5
Baseband v S:i500.04 V. EH03
Kernal v. 2.635.7
build. SCH-I500.EH03

Please help to either get back or flash to something better. I'm pretty savvy...computer builder...but 1st time with Android.

Thanks,Tracy

You want to go back to Eclair? Lol.

How about considering rooting the device and flashing Android 4.1 on it? It seems you're on Gingerbread ( 2.3) so you'be already created a foundation for the process. I have another thread in this section about how to do so, but I'd look up the user interface if its something you really want.

Hey Thanks, Been doing more reading...The reason I wanted to go back to eclair..It was a lot faster and less buggy. I did the update from eclair to 2.3 through android update with Verizon. Am I correct in thinking that if I root my phone it will preform better? How fast will 4.1 run on my phone?

Well rooting the phone only gives you the permissions that normally Google will block. Rooting can lead to better performance, but again its hard to stretch the performance too far on a single core CPU clocked at 1 GHz.

I've never tried Eclair on my device, I bought mine with Froyo. I don't know anywhere that has a stock rom of Eclair, ill do some homework first and let you know when something comes up.

Hi, Thanks for the reply after hours of reading I flashed my phone last night w/ Odin to Froyo. So far I really like it. I have restored all contacts & apps. In your opinion what is the best and smoothest running build from here? Is there an app that I can OC the processor a bit? What benchmark program is recommended for performance test? Is there a list somewhere for tweaks that improve performance as well. Thanks for all your help it is much appreciated.
