Help Back to Orange Firmware

Vandark

Lurker
Got GPY on at the moment. Think my phone is faulty. How do I use Odin to put JP8 or any orange branded firmware back on? Does it require allsorts of different files? Tried to do it via KIES using the reg hack but it just hung on the startup screen after flashing.

Any ideas?

UK Orange BTW if this makes a difference :)

Can you get the phone into recovery mode, this is the first thing to check.
The following should also be done after any firmware update.

WARNING: doing this may wipe your data, contacts, photos music ect so back things up you want to keep.

Recovery mode:
Power phone off.
Press and hole the volume up + home key + power button.
When phone boots to the samsung boot screen "the big S" release the power button only.
When the phone gets to a screen with a lot of coloured text release the other 2 keys.
At the top of the screen will be some blue text, look for wipe data/factory reset.
Use the volume up/down key to navigate to wipe data/factory reset.
Press the home key to OK the action.
On the next screen will be a lot NO's in blue and in the middle will be 1 YES.
Use the volume up/down to navigate to YES.
Press home key to OK the action.
Phone will reboot.

You can then set up your google acconts again and your phone.

Try this first before you do anything else as it nearly always sorts out most problems you will get after a firmware update.

Ok I did the 3 button trick and then reverted it back to JPY. Worked fine.

Started up in recovery and cleared everything cache etc, factory reset.

I then did a 1 file PDA update back to JP8 and it just froze again on the startup screen.

Originally I did a 3 file update when I went to JPU so I specified a 512.pit, a JPU CSC (GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJPU.tar) and a Phone (MODEM_I9000XXJPU). This was a recommended thing to do before applying JPY apparently.

Could these pit files, cscs and modems need specific files to suit the JP8 update?

Can anyone advise me on this?
