back up app data without root?

Is there any way to back up my app data (specifically game progress) without having to root my device? I don't want to root yet because I'm still under warranty and don't want to void it.

I'm running an Asus Transformer Prime TF201 with Jellybean, and ever since the update, it has been laggy and not smooth at all. I've read that the fix is to do a factory reset, but then I'll lose everything.

I personally don't care about the game progress, but my kids will, and they'll drive me nuts with their whining if I blow it away.

No, currently there is not an easy way to back up game data without root. This is somethings I expect in Key Lime Pie.

I didn't think so, but it can't hurt to ask, right? ;)

Now the question is, do I root and void my warranty, do I live with the lag (not likely), or do I put up with the whining?

I recommend doing some research and decide if rooting is for you. Yes, there are inherent risks, but they are minimal. The people who have trouble rooting do not follow instructions. They really are idiot proof at this point.

If you can follow instructions, rooting is harmless. And it is also reversible should you need to send it in for warranty replacement.

I'm getting ready to root my phone (no longer under warranty, and I want to be able to get rid of some bloat), but I've read that the TF201 flags the device if you unlock the bootloader, so if I did have to send it in for warranty repair, they'd know it had been rooted, even if I did unroot it before sending it in.

Everything is reversible. I would suggest hitting up the device specific forums and reading about it if you intend to root anything. Know the way out. The SGS3 also has a "modification" checker, but devs have ways of removing that tag. There are a ton of brilliant people working on top devices.

Well, I rooted my phone yesterday and installed Titanium Backup (the free version), but haven't done my tablet yet. I still want to flash a ROM on my phone to increase battery life, then I'll tackle the tablet :)

Use Carbon to backup app data with or without root. This is by far the best app for doing so, with its simplicity, functionality, and clarity. It is particularly good for maintaining app data when switching between your tablet and smartphone.
