Help Backflip

Before buying my Backflip, I read post regarding the battery life and was concerned - nearly all posts indicate about 8 hours of life.

Having said that, I've been getting about 10 days! of battery life and this is how I do it:
1. Set to Smart/Low use mode
2. Ensure all gizmos's are off (GPS, WiFi, Sync, vibrate ... all the stuff that a user can turn off).
3. I turn ON the stuff I want when I need it, then turn them off again.
4. I turn Off the Backflip when I go to bed and back on in the morning.

Note(s): Once you turn off the gizmo's, you can quickly access turning on Wifi, GPS via holding down the power button - a menu pops up (the same one for turning off the Backflip).

I rarely use it for web, email, texting, etc... I have computers for that. I have used it for GPS, Google Maps, some camera stuff - that's how I get long battery life.;)
 
Sounds like you don't use your phone for any of the things its made to do, why not get a 50 dollar nokia that does phone stuff exceptionally and lasts 10 days without being turned off?

Anyway, in every battery thread I decide to reply to (there are millions, don't obsess over battery too much you'll go insane) I always recommend downloading Spare Parts and using it to watch apps partial wake usage. Apps that keep the phone awake all the time chug battery, so kill the ones that you see keeping it alive, and battery life will be fine, I usually get 2 days of pretty heavy usage out of mine, or 5-6 hours of screen on.
 
I use setting profile.
It is a $3 app that changes phone states based on time and location.
Location is set by agps so it doesn't suck battery life
 
I can usually get two days from mine, but out of habit charge it each night when I am sleeping.

The battery performance has gotten better over time and I do think the limited release update (which I got) has helped.
 
I notice mine is drained more from heavy net useage. Hard to go camping over the weekend (Friday night through Sunday evening) without charging, too. That's just keeping up with the weather and not lots of net useage.

I'm happy with mine but battery life is my only complaint. Think I'll try some of the app managing apps to see if I can get better preformence.
 
Thanks - actually, I also have a Nokia (and a few others). I like to write programs/app's and have been waiting for AT&T to come out with an Android so I could stay with my service (been with them 16 years).

Always better to have the real hardware to run app testing after simulation on emulator. Besides, a guy sometimes needs a new toy.;)
 
From what I understand we should have Android 2.1 on our Backflips by the end of the year. I wonder just what that will do to the battery life of the phone. Some posts seem to indicate battery life will get better, and others indicate a bit worse. What does everyone think? Of course, we won't know for sure until it comes out.

I have an AT&T tilt that I run Android on; I started with 1.5 and moved up with 1.6 and then am currently running 2.1. From my experence with that, the battery life got way better with 2.1 (like 3-4 more hours of useage). Not sure about how motoblur and all that stuff will affect it or not, but I am hoping that since the recent update helped batter life, the 2.1 update should as well.
