Background Data Restricted?

Since a recent upgrade (or downgrade) to JB, I am constantly getting the notification that "Background Data Restricted" and by simply tapping it, whatever is causing it goes away. Anybody know what is causing this?

Did you do a Factory Data Reset after the upgrade?

Check your phone's settings. Setting/Data Usage/Menu. In pop-up is "Restrict background data" checked? If so, uncheck it and you should be good to go.

I was experiencing the same thing. Thank you B360155 for posting the advise. I would, however, be curious to know where this came from? Was it a JB update thing, or could my recent rooting process also have had something to do with it?

I did the reset before finding out about that check box. The box is not checked now, however, it may have been before the reset. Hopefully I never see it again.

What does restricting background datat do anyway?

Do you have any Smart Actions set? The battery extender and low battery actions turn background data off when the screen is off.

As far as I know, it keeps your apps from doing things w/o your knowledge, so it is not using your data plan when the screen is off.

Got the JB update last week, did a FDR. Everything has been great. Lovin" JB, much smoother.
