Hi guys,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2
Model GT-I9100
Android Version 2.3.5
Baseband version XXKI3
Buildnumber GINGERBREAD.ZSKI3

I wanted to back up my phone.

I have downloaded the "Backup Your Mobile" app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.backupyourmobile&hl=en

But I understand that the application data is not backed up.
I understand there's Helium, but my phone's incompatible. I don't want to upgrade the firmware with Kies as everything is working well now.

Questions
1. How can I back up my application data (and what IS application data - sorry for the ignorance. Is it things like Whatsapp chat logs?)

2. I understand that Google Play Services is installed on my phone - does that save and backup all my application data? If not, what does it do?

3. When I get a new phone, what do I need to do to restore the application data?

Appreciate your help.

Check out this thread for some stuff put together by some super smart folks here.

It will help you back up both apps & data.

As to your questions specifically.
1. App data are things like game progress, information saved in the app, etc.
2. Play services will backup some information like contacts, but not all information
3. Yes in most cases.
