I'm glad I could help. I hate it when I read about the strange, dumb, and nefarious things that carriers do to their ROMs. I was borderline determined to help find a work around for you guys. I'm glad someone else had figured it out, it made it easy just to pass along the link with info.

For those of you doing the swap with metered data, make sure you connect to your carrier's Wifi and have all updates and cloud backups/restores performed on THEIR network. Don't let them max out your data because of Samsung's mistake.

Also, don't take a software update until you have restored your backup on the new device. In the past, these backdoor tricks to access under the radar applications have been patched up or taken away

Carriers or overly helpful store associates might try to update your new device during unboxing before they hand it to you.
