Help Backingup S3 Issues

So My mothers GS3 is having an issue backing up to Kies, its either not reading the device or having problems with the driver or synchronization issues any help?
 
Kies isn't great mate, worst piece of software I've ever tried to use. I think my GS3 has connected to it once in the 9 months I've had it. I gave up on it.
If you need to back up, my recommendation would be to use a program called 'Helium', it's always worked great for me
 
So anyway, I figured out the main issue, is that even though is says that its charging, the device will disconnect if the cord moves any slight bit so yeah, Thanks for anyone who viewed this thread
