Help Backlight Dim

sid18

Lurker
The backlight on my S3 has gone really dim, I can hardly see anything on the screen at all, if I'm outside and I get a message I have to go indoors to read it because I can't see anything.

I have the same browser issue as I've read that other people have, my light goes pretty much completely off when I open the default browser, however it's also really dim on any other part of the phone, I've turned off auto brightness and put the brightness level to max but it's still unusable.

Every so often (usually if it's plugged into the mains) the backlight will flicker wildly and you can see how bright it should be and sometimes the whole screen has kind of lines flickering all over it but in this case the brightness doesn't change.

Any ideas or do I have to take my phone back to the shop? I've only had it for 3 months so I'm sure I can get them to deal with the problem if it's not an easy fix for myself, if they won't then I'll do any tinkering that's suggested.

Thanks for any help with this.

Does it happen when you use the default browser? I believe it has an option within it to set its brightness etc. I don't have the phone close to me at the moment, but try to scroll through the options of the browser.

It's worse in the default browser but it's really dim on every part of the phone system, I can hardly see the lock screen or my apps either. I heard there was a brightness setting in the browser for that but i literally can't see anything on it to change it.

Go to Settings/Display, uncheck Auto adjust screen tone.

You can adjust the brightness of your display when you are browsing the Internet on your mobile device. To change the brightness on your browser, touch Internet > Menu > Brightness and colors.
