Root Backside ROM Messaging App

bonline

Newbie
Hello,

I've installed the Backside ROM, but I like Handcent messaging app. How do I uninstall the messaging app that came with the ROM?

I indicated that Handcent is the default but the messaging app still shows up when new message come in.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Probably about the best thing yo do would be go to your messaging screen (with all the threads) press
Menu then go to settings, scroll down until you see "notifications" and uncheck it.
Someone else give some input on this, but maybe you could freeze the stock messaging app with titanium backup as well...but before trying this wait for some other input becauseI don't know if it will screw up your system or not..

Ignore this lol I got ninja'd

Weddle's advice is the best and easiest solution without removing the stock SMS/MMS app. :) However, I removed the app because upon rebooting the OV, all unread messages--via the stock app--will show up in the notification status--even though the notification option is un-checked. It was a bit of nuisance to have to clearing them.

Yeah all those messages popping back up were a pita when I used handcent. Idk if it would work, but is it possible to limit the messages per conversation in stock sms to 0? I imagine not, but even if you put it to 1itd be a little less arduous.

Never had this happen once on my phone (or my wife's), even when I don't uninstall stock messaging.

Maybe because I use GoSMS?

I've used both GoSMS, and Handcent, and I've never had this problem. Well, except when I forgot to turn off notifications in the stock SMS. :) I'd just freeze the stock app with Titanium Backup, or something similar.
