Backup Assistant and WiFi?

Hi all. I just got the HTC Thunderbolt today (my first smartphone) so I'm new here. Absolutely love the thing.

I have a quick questions regarding Backup Assistant. I'm using WiFi when I'm at home to save battery, but whenever Backup Assistant is syncing, it engages mobile data instead of using WiFi. Is this normal? I'm guessing that Backup Assistant has to communicate with Verizon over the air and not via the internet.

Also, the Thunderbolt doesn't come with a Facebook app of any sort but it can retrieve FB contacts? How can I only see contacts in my phone book and not FB and Gmail contacts?

Thanks!

Yes, it has to use data for Backup Assistant.

Your phone should have Facebook for HTC Sense on it, but there is also a Facebook for Android app in the market.

Go into your People app and then click Menu > View

Then un-check Facebook, Google, etc. :)
