Root Backup assistant; export contacts

ShivaSage

Hello all,

I recently rooted to CM7, though I foolishly did not take any extra effort to back up my contacts. Of course, they are all backed up on VZW's website using Backup Assistant.

I have read people's solution of going on VZW's Backup Assistant website where there is a list of your contacts, and exporting the list to import in Gmail. However, I cannot even reach that website because VZW recognizes that my phone doesn't have Backup Assistant installed and won't let me continue, and it doesn't seem like I can install Backup Assistant.

Thoughts? I made a nandroid backup. Maybe that's a last resort?

Hi ShivaSage,

That may well be the quickest way:

* take a nandroid of your current ROM.

* restore your older nandroid

* back up your contacts (export to sd should suffice)

* restore your new nandroid

* import your contacts from the backup.

Sounds like work, but can be done in about 10 minutes, 15 max.

Did you not select the option to backup and restore your contacts through Google? That is the best way to do this and your contacts are restored automatically.
