Help Backup Assistant Service Failed - Sync state not supported by this operation

John728

Newbie
I have a Samsung Stratosphere running Gingerbread 2.3.5, rooted. Recently I tried to use the Backup Assistant app and it gave me the error message:

Service Failed
Sync state not supported by this operation

How do I get it to work again? I can't think of anything that could have caused this. It worked when I first got the phone.

And please don't just say that google's backup is better Most of my contacts are saved on my phone and not the gmail account.

I posted on the official Verizon forum and got this response:

"reset Backup Assistant by going to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications> Select All tab at the top>Sync Service>Clear data/cache. Then go back to Backup Assistant to setup the application again. "

That did the trick.

I would look at your gmail contacts list as when I check everything that is in my phone contact list is there. And if there's a way to stop some of it from being both places I have not yet found it.
