Root Backup before installing custom rom EVO V

Real quick current sit.
EVO V
Unlocked bootloader (HTC Dev)

4EXT Recovery and 4EXT App installed
S-On

I inquired about installing a Kernel just to gain the speed but maintaining the stock ROM. After all of the raves I was going to try to flash a custom ROM just to gain all of the perks of it as well as the OC ability. My ? is I have made a backup in the 4EXT recovery. If I flash a custom ROM and am unhappy with it or run into glitches that I don't like, can I just restore my backup from where I am now or will I have to do the RUU process? Thanks.

You have a complete backup of everything on your phone. ROM, Kernel, apps, contacts, browsing history, etc. If you restore it your phone will revert to the EXACT same state it was in at the time of backing it up.

Perfect. Thank you! I did the complete backup on 4EXT so I would assume that is everything.

Just a quick heads up for everyone, nandroids are not portable with different recoveries, even going from TWRP 1.x to version 2 the backup will not work. So first thing anytime that you change recoveries is make a new nandroid backup.
