Backup procedure & upgrading SD card

Total noob question here but I figured I should ask before attempting this...

I've rooted my phone (Virgin Mobile A510c - Marvelc) using this method, partitioned my SD card for use with Link2SD (a large FAT32 partition for apps & storage and a 150MB Ext2 partition for the system files) and installed several apps that I plan to use on a regular basis so I'm at a point where I think it would be a good idea to create a backup that I can restore later on just in case I mess things up while I'm learning the ropes here.

I would also like to know how to restore a backup when upgrading to a larger SD card as I plan to do this in the near future. thanks in advance for the assistance and I apologize if this has already been asked & answered as I've searched the forums and did not find a definitive answer regarding this subject. This could be my mediocre searching skills though so again - my apologies if these questions have already been answered. Hopefully you won't mind pointing me in the right direction.

Hi Tarrnation, and welcome to AF

To make a backup just boot into recovery and select the backup option there. This will create a "nandroid" backup (a collection of images for different partitions of the system, stored in clockworkmod/backup on your sd card).

When changing cards a simple procedure is to take a nandroid backup, then copy the entire contents of the fat32 partition to a computer (which includes the nandroid), partition the new card, copy the contents of the old card's fat32 to the new one's, then go into recovery and restore the nandroid backup. Restoring the nandroid will fill the new card's ext partition with a copy of your old card's one. Then reboot and it should all be as before, just with more space.

I figured it would be as simple as that but I also figured it's better to be safe than sorry seeing as how I'm new to all of this.
