Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Gio running Gingerbread, and I want to backup the programs I already have installed from the Market.
Can you recommend a good program to backup the programs and be able to restore them again?
I want to restore my phone and thats why I need a backup.

thanks in advance

"App Backup and Restore" can back up your apps and restore them, but just the apps. If you want to backup your save games (like what stage you are on in Angry Birds) as well or other app data, you need to be rooted. Otherwise when you restore you'll be back on stage one for your games. Then you'll need "Titanium Backup Pro" or "My Backup Pro".

Thanks for the reply chanchan, I try the first one you mentioned as I am a new Android user and have not much apps or games yet :)

Is it possible to store these apps and games online to store them and later on reinstall them if needed, as it is in iTunes?

If you have "Astro" you can use it for backup user apps ( apps that you installed). If you need to backup all the apps in your phone you have two option.
If you have root permission you can use "Titanium Backup ★ root" if you don't have root permission you can use "MyPhoneExploere".

After you install myphneexploere go to "File>Application", now click "Download application" and select your computer location for save them.

After you download apps, you can view all the installed apps list in Android market "My Library" page ( Top of the page). But you need to use a desktop computer/ Desktop web browser for that.:D

If you need to backup installed apps information, you can backup them in to your SD card using "App list backup". After perform backup, it save all the information (market link, app name etc) list to your SD card. Any time can view them using only this application.

Thanks for the reply Andima,
I have just installed the MyPhoneExploere and synched it with my mobile, it is very easy to use it and it and gives some good other possibilities too.

It creates a RLE file in a folder I chose. How can I use it to restore the files when I need to install them once again in my mobile?

At the top page of Android Market I can't see "My Library" to view the apps I have downloaded. How can I use a desktop computer/ Desktop web browser for that to view?

First Go to Android market, now log-in to your android market using your Google account that you configured with your android phone market app. Now you can see following screen shot type link.

That mean you created backup using myphonexploere, and saved it in your computer (Windows), if so, you have two option,

  • Copy those backup APK in to your SD card and use app installer or use file browser for install them.

  • Go to "MyPhoneExploere> File>Application" Now there is a button called "Installed application" that i demonstrate following screen shot. Brose your computer APK file location and click "Open". Now you can see your phone request install new app.
****Note:- You need to enable install apps from unknown source in your android phone, otherwise you can't. (Go to "Setting>Application" now check unknown source -On GingerBird OS )

Hope you can understand what I'm say and it will help to you!

I can see the apps I already installed and ones I later installed are shown under "My Library", if I format my SD card can I reinstall them by installing one by one through My Library?

It is because sometimes when I plug the phone in pc I can't see those apps installed on the SD card, and it gives a message that I have to format the SD card.

Yes you can! My library include all the installed and uninstalled apps list. You can access them after format SD, Factory reset etc..........

I have no idea about this situation, hope someone will help you. Have you check Connectivity setting's USB connection mode?

I think its better start another thread for this issue! ;)
