I have installed Dropbox and it seems to be running well. Does anyone know how to do a backup to Dropbox. Would like to save all phone settings and data if possible. TIA.
Update May 09, 2011
I have managed to get a cell phone backup to Dropbox as follows:
[On Xperia X10i, Firmware 2.1-update1, Build 2.1.A.0.435]
First create a "Cell Backup" folder in Dropbox. I did this on the PC.
[You may have to put a file in this folder before it is updated
to the Dropbox system - I just put a small .txt file in it.]
On the cell phone Select Backup and restore > Back Up > Add new
[Enter a name for the backup file] > Continue ...
Now open a file manager [I use ASTRO file manager] and select
the directory /sdcard/data/backup.
Tap and hold the backup file you want to transfer > tap Send
You may get "! Unknown File Type message" - Just tap Send again.
Tap "Dropbox" on the Send File menu.
Select your "Cell Backup" folder > Then "Send to this folder".
That's it. Your backup file should appear in the folder and Dropbox will
transfer the update to "the cloud" and to your PC.
I am sure there is a simpler way to do this, and your experience may vary
P.S. Still haven't had the to courage to actually do a restore operation using
the dropbox file...
Hope this helps.
