Help backup xperia data

I plan to root my xperia phone and also updated the firmware. Thats why i have to backup my data.

Whats the best and easiest way to the backup and restore it ?

Save your contacts from the phonebook on your SD card, other apps can also do that though.

And if you can root before, use Titanium to backup your stuff, I love it, but you need a rooted device to re-import the data.

If you use the apps in the above posts, then root and update the phone re download the app and then use it to restore the data.
The apps save all your data to the sd card. I've used titanium and that works very well

but how to move the contacts to SD card. Sorry for my ignorance!

Open the Phonebook, click on menu (button on the left) then select More, then "Back up contacts". Then select "Memory Card"

If you want to save everything as it is today (apps, preferences, etc.) I suggest, after you rooted your phone, that you install xRecovery. You'll have to read about this on the XDA Developers forum though, it's pretty much without risk but you still want to know what you're doing.

This will let you make a backup and you can restore anytime. When you become a more advanced user you can also install custom ROMs with xRecovery.
