A cell phone can have a bad ESN/MEID/IMEI number for one of 3 reasons:
The phone was reported lost or stolen in the past.
The phone is still active on the owner's wireless carrier account.
There is money owed on the wireless carrier account to which the ESN/MEID/IMEI is connected.
I agree. Go to the HTC Evo V 4G All Things Root sub-forum. There are quite a few members that can help in trying to straighten things out with your phone.
Edited info. Had made a typo but my slow 3G connection wouldn't allow me to see my post to edit until now.
