Help Bad SIM=Bad Battery Life???

Hello. My name is Carolyn. I just joined this forum. I bought my Samsung Galaxy Express back in November. I have an app on it that shows what percentage of battery power I have left as a number in the status bar. That app shows how long the phone has been disconnected from the charger when you pull the bottom of the status bar down to reveal the notification area. I don't start getting the low battery warning till it gets down to 15. I was getting really good battery life when I first got the phone. I went over 24 hours between charges before it got down to 15 again 4 or 5 times. The rest of the time I was getting 18-22 hours of battery life. Now I'm lucky if I get 14 hours before it starts giving me the low battery warning. I'm not using it any more or less than I ever have since I've had it. Can a bad SIM card cause the Samsung Galaxy Express or any cell phone to use up the battery faster?
The reason I'm asking about the SIM card is because AT&T thinks it's why a couple of times lately my phone has shown a circle with a line through it (no signal) instead of signal bars...and I could be right next to a tower. I was just wondering if it could be affecting the phone's battery life too.

It is possible if it is searching for service that will drain the battery.

Also have you installed any new apps recently, you might have a new app that is draining your battery also, so that might be something to look at too. ;)

DonB, I removed 10-12 apps I never use that were fairly large in size as far as MB and KB are concerned and it seems to have slowed the speed of the battery drain by about 35%. It's still going down fast but not as fast as before I removed those apps. That helped but I think those lines on the SIM are scratches and I think those scratches are affecting the signal some times and the battery life most of the time. Thanks for helping me to slow the battery drain down some.

Signal comes from the antenna not the Sim. The Sim holds Data, if damage then it affects the info in it

So why would AT&T tell me the SIM card is the problem? Apparently that guy at Radio Shack was right when he talked me out of buying that $9 and some change SIM card. He said it wouldn't fix the signal issue. AT&T and I are going to have a chat about my signal problem and what that guy at Radio Shack said.

New SIM card seems to have fixed the signal problem and removing several apps I never used or used very little seems to have fixed the battery drain. A thousand thanks, DonB.
