Accessories ballistic case review for the evo

Hey everybody I just got the ballistic HC case today in the gray/black. Everything is great. All of the Ports, speakers, and the camera flash is covered, if you put the optional skin on it. The only thing I dont like is the built in screen protector, its a thin film. It works but its almost like it has a thin layer of air beneath it so its kinda weird and hard to type on it. Other than that its awesome. Its a little to thick and bulky. in my opinion i like the otterbox defender better.

i got mine today too. i have the water-like spots on my screen protector. ive seen the baby powder trick on their website, guess ill have to try that. this case is indeed rugged, very well built.

i am not aw fan of cases and usually dont get them but when i saw this one i had to grab it. so this is my first time using a case with a built in screen protector. i had those oil slick like spots but using the squeegee got rid of them. is basically moist air thats in there the the heat from the display heats it up. if its totally airtight, by using the squeegee, it will keep those oil slicks at bay.

i got mine in on tuesday and i love it. i can do everything with one hand EVEN with the case in the silicon jacket. i have also ordered the black case and will also order the red case.

and i have ZERO issues typing/flicking with the protector. even when i saw those oil slick spots i still had no issues.

I had the same problem with the oil slick effect but the baby powder trick worked perfect.

This is an awesome case and I love it. At first I had a few concerns and issues. Once i used the case for a day or two i got to see up close and in person what everyone was saying about the oil effect, and i really hated it because it really took away from the screen. After I saw a video on you tube, with the baby powder trick I decided to try it. It worked great the oil slick spot went away beautifully. Other than that everything worked great. It is in my opinion a bit more rugged than the otterbox defender, but its a bit more bulky, if you have the gel skin on it as well as the hard/hard silicone case( the main case). I would recomend this case to anyone whos looking for a case that they can do just about anything in without having to worry. The holster is from what I can tell pretty good there is no play or give in it at all, but I don't usually ever carry a holster. So I don't really know how well it will hold up. I personally have the grey/black one which looks really good. I also will probably order the red and black as well. Also the ports are only covered if you have the gel skin they include on it, on your phone as well as the other. Not a huge deal but for 50 bucks they should have covered all the ports on both portions of the cases. Still worth buying though.

i have the black case coming and will also get the red one. i currently have the grey also.

this is EXTREME protection so it makes sense the case is thicker than competitors' cases.. it has 5 layers of case! :) the oil slick issue, if you use the squeegee, will get those out pretty good... what happens is moisture in the air that is under the protector warms up with the screen and causes moisture. that proves how airtight the protector is which is a good thing. the powder does indeed do the trick and requires just a brief tiny burst of powder.

lol he got up on the FREEZER to drop it! hahaa...

I was going to buy one of these but then I realized I could build a case out of a few 2x4's in the garage and make it a little thinner. lol

Nice protection but seems a little too rugged for my tastes...

well, I just got mine today and all I can say is WOW!

Beefy as hell, blows away the protection of the otterbox, and I can see how you could throw this thing against a wall without any damage!

Plus, the assembly fits inside the belt holster very nicely, so you dont need to add felt to it like you do with the otterbox.

its definitely big, and if you wear super tight jeans, there is no way this is sliding easily in and out of your pocket, if you use the silicone sleeve. But what I like about it vs the trident and the otter box is that you can use it WITHOUT the silicone sleeve, since the buttons are mounted on the plastic frame, NOT the silicone sleeve, so, if you just want some good protection, you can pass on putting the silicone sleeve on, and you will still be able to easily use all the buttons!
Put the sleeve on, and you could drop this off the roof, onto concrete and nothing would happen to your EVO!

the stand is pretty flimsy, but pops right back on if you pop it off.

No question, this is the #1 protective case for the EVO now, bar none...bye bye, Otter box!

Just bought this and got in the mail yesterday. Basically 1/2 off of the retail price on the Ballistice website. I like the optional outer shell. You don't always need it but it looks like a monster with it on. Great case!

I got mine today also. I call my new case 'a brick s**thouse' thing Is huge but great protection. I didn't get the watermark effect on my screen tho? love this case!

So, compared to the otterbox defender, how much bigger is it without the optional outer sleeve? And if I were to leave the sleeve off, do you still think it would make a good "pocket" case? I have the Defender, and the screen broke inward, and the outer layer is always slipping off. Ballistic has a solid name when it comes to cases, and I know they will deliver, but I don't want something that is going to be to big for my pocket.

Well, I rarely, if ever use the outer sleeve, since the protection is so good without it.
That being said, its not really that much bigger, if at all, than the otterbox without the silicone sleeve..I put it in my shirt pocket, my coat pocket, and, with loose fitting pants, it can go in your pants pocket easily.

Thanks wase, I could handle the otterbox defender in my pocket, but hated how it grabbed everything and turned your pocket inside out. This case seems to have more of a hard outer plastic shell that would be more "pocket" friendly. I'm buying right now from eBay.

Anyone worried about heat if it seals up that tight? The defender screen protector has been perfect on mine fwiw if anyone is really turned off with the screen bit. But it ain't air-tight.

I've had mine in a ballistic for a while now..never a worry in the world...I pushed off the screen protector on mines though..just a personal preference.Got mines in all black for a nice tactical look.
