Root Barnacle Wifi Tethering... Testers Needed

That is exactly what I got before I installed the working rtecdc.bin file. Then everything will work.

Make sure you put the file in the right place.

Thanks Guys. I did copy it over, or so I thought. A fat finger in the terminal app "cat ....." command. Did it again and all it good!!!

Thank you. I've used this a couple of times for work. I run my own business and I was able to help out a customer where I had no wifi.

I am running Behold II OTA 1.6 Tweaked v3 (rooted).
I was able to get Barnacle working following this procedure. I had already installed the superuser app and it first didn't work. I then removed the app as noted here, then reinstalled it as noted here and everything worked great!

This was quite the job to setup, but it certainly is worth it. I really want to thank all of you who worked on getting Barnacle to work, as well as those who made a decent Behold 2 build possible (1.6., without all the Twiz and other bloatware). I think I'll keep this phone for a while! I tried Barnacle about a month ago and it looked pretty like it wouldn't work, but this is awesome! I'll give this a try for a bit and make sure it works, then donate to Barnacle.

It would be good if Barnacle could include WPA/WPA2 security since WEP is pretty easy to defeat. Of course, this is relatively low-risk if the usage is light.

I am running 1.6 tweaked V3 w/ Take 5......
Works with almost no set-up. Once I flashed the ROM, I DL it from the market and it just flat out worked. It is slower than all hell but we are not 3G here.

It does work.

I'm running bearsfan85's OTA Take 5 rooted and this works perfectly. My WiFi connection at home went down 5 days ago, and I've had to use Barnacle exclusively. It's PERFECT! Fast too. Around 1.9-2MB download speeds via the test at toast.net.

Thanks so much everyone who worked on this.

I'm having some problems.

Everything works up to where the phone connects as adhoc to my laptop.

The app on the phone says its running, i see barnacle on wireless and I can connect to it. But then it has exclamation on the icon on the laptop saying no network.

On the phone it doesnt show my laptop as a client.

I'm on Windows 7, using the behold 2 with take 5

When I start typing in cat /sdcard on Better Terminal it says permission denied, any ideas? Running latest microhaxo tweaked 1.6.

Did you install the rtecdc.bin as I described? Once you follow my directions it will work, otherwise it will look like there is a WIFI but will not work.

Did you Turn Off USB drive? Sounds like the SDCARD might not be mounted on the phone.

Otherwise do it from ADB on your PC. Easier to copy and paste the copy commands to make sure everything goes smoothly.

What do you mean by turn off USB drive? As in menu > settings > apps > development > USB Debugging? Yes that is not checked.

The only reason I'm trying to use better terminal is because I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, and I haven't had any success getting my phone recognized completely.

I know this is late in the game here but just came across this...
Running Eugene's OC Kernal (running at 796 :D) and Ext Rom and works great on mine as well...been running it for 20 minutes now with no problems at all.
Thanks

After i had succeeded in setting superuser correctly, I installed Barnacle Wifi Tether and it worked almost immediately. I just had to to set "skip the wpa_supplicant"' the log was very helpful to notify me about that.

Thanks a lot !

ok. heres my prob. i cant tether my xperia mini pro u20i with my pocketbook iq 701. so, i saw this forum and try to dwnload the terminal. note that both of this device is already rooted. i installed barnacle wifi in my xperia. some of the forum said, change ip address but i dont know where is the ip address. So, back to main point. i tried to open terminal. and write su. its granted. then when i type the second line... cat /sdcard thingy... it said cannot create /: is a directory.

i mean.. i tried for few times.. and i tried my best to even count the space i need to put every word exactly as u put it but still the outcome is the same. did i do something wrong? or is there any software i have to instal again.

i hope you will reply fast cuz i've been trying to solve my problems with hundreds of pages and forum now but none of it solve my probs. its been 4 days now and im getting pissed of with this both android. so, if you could just make my day better, i really appreciate it. thanks:o
