Help basic noob question re messages/texts...help!

I am surprised seven digit dialing still works. Why are you insisting on doing it that way? Landlines have required ten digit dialing for quite a long time.

The guy gave you an answer because you are trying to do something abnormal. It has nothing to do with what year the persons phone was built.

i was trying to send a text to my sons phone sitting next to me. it never went thru. the pcs guy told me to put in the area code, and it went thru. what am i doing abnormally? is there another way to text?

10 digits, always? never knew that. my land line can still use 7 digits within my area code. and a lot of my texting goes thru with 7 digits within my area code. never ran into this with my old phone. so, thanks, good to know. i'll be editing my contacts tomorrow.

the good think is that if you have your phone synced up with gmail, you can edit the contacts on Gmail and it will automatically change on your phone as well. So you can do it all from the computer instead of the phone.

^yup, already did that. yay, today people may answer my texts... because today they will actually get them. and that's how this whole thread started...i wanted a confirmation that they were going thru, lol.

thanks muchly for all the help!!!
