Battery charging issue - Nexus 5X

Any body have issue with charging phone I have OEM brick and cable and it says my phone is charging but battery percentage doesn't go up instead it goes down. Any ideas I already have all apps closed still doesn't go up just maintains phone on.

I'd try another charger..

And check what current its rated for.

Its the original charger shouldn't have a problem was charging fine before

It "shouldn't" but you never know. A quick way to figure out a way forward is to try a different cable and a different charger if possible. If a different charger and cable don't rectify (see what I did there ) the problem then you might have an issue with the 5X.

Yeah first im going to re order another cable it could be the brick but imma just try another cable to find out

Have any of you guys had issues with phone charging my phone shows it's charging im using a OEM charger and even if it says it's charging battery keeps draining and doesn't go up %

I successfully used OEM cables and chargers. Note that most OEM chargers won't do fast charge because their throughput is too low. In fact, some have a throughput that's so low, the phone can use more charge than the charger provides - which could explain the symptoms you're seeing. To check if this is the case, try turning the phone off and leaving it to charge overnight.

If that's not the issue, then it seems to me that there is a problem with your OEM charger, the USB cable or the phone itself. Probably not more than 1 of these

You need to try to isolate which is the problem. To do this you could try:

- using a different cable with the OEM charger
- using the same cable with a different charger / USB port on a PC
- using a different cable with a different charger / USB port on a PC

If the problem is either with the charger or the cable, these should help you identify which it is.

If none of the above combinations work, then I'm afraid the problem is with the USB port on the phone and it's time to call Google for a warranty repair (I've done this in the past and it's not too painful a process - just make sure you have everything backed up).

It does charge over night if it's off it charged to 55% while it was on as well but takes longer than usual will have to buy different charger to see because when it at 0 % takes a while before it shows charging screen

So the issue is simply that the charger is not rated high enough - a common problem with large screen phones. Also, fast charge requires a much higher number of amps than was required for non-fast charge phones.

What you need to look for is a charger that is rated 5V / 3A. See the Nexus 5X section on the following page for more information:

The other night I was watching a YouTube video while the phone charged and it wasn't charging very fast. If I shut the screen off and read a book it charges quickly.
