Help Battery doesn't fully charge when plugged in and wifi is on

I've noticed some strange battery behaviour on my Captivate since upgrading to Gingerbread a while back.

I use Green Power to save power and if I set it to leave WiFi on while the phone is plugged in then I don't seem to get a full charge when charging.

For example, my battery gauge (and JuicePlotter) both showed 100% this morning after charging over night yet as soon as I unplugged my phone they both changed to show only 70%!

In JuicePlotter you can see the immediate drop (see attached screenshot).

The drop doesn't seem to be as bad if I set Green Power to still disable WiFi even if the phone is charging but there is still a drop of anywhere from 5-15%.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know how to fix it?

Hello jaydee77ca. Your configuration settings in wifi can have some impact on resource drain and battery life. Scanning for new networks and notifying you can use up battery quite quickly on some devices.

I found that "starting over" with wifi/networking can be a good way to improve matters (besides configuring it and other apps/widgets to manually update/sync rather that auto in the background, etc): I went in and cleared all data and cache in anything related to networking via application manager, then rebooted the device and reconfigured everything that updates or scans for signal/data, etc (weather apps/widgets, news, social networking stuff, Gmail, etc) to do nothing unless I invoked it manually.

Amazing how the device got more snap to it and also cured quick battery drain.

But the phone was plugged in and charging. How can it drain 30% while plugged in and charging?
