Anyone experiencing battery drain after the latest Verizon OTA from NCG to NE9 kitkat update?

I used to get at least a day and a half out of a charge but now I barely get a day....all things being equal.

Hate to be the one to say/ask it.. but did you do a factory reset after the update? Not that it should be a requirement, but it is always reccomended after any firmwqre update whether big or small.. just my opinion tho ;)

sniff, sniff...no. I hate to think about factory resets. It's SUCH A PAIN (GOOGLE)! Wish they'd find a way to not have to. It really is my last option but wanted to get a consensus first.

I did not do a factory reset, all I did was to power it off and then back on.

I have had no battery drain issues at all.

My only issue was a lot of preferences got reset back to the defaults which pissed me off a bit. a couple of other things that I forget now what were that operate differently but I got used to it.

So I used Samsungs power saving settings and one thing it changed was turning off GPS Location service. Since that change and a full charge I'm sitting here at 1 day 12 hours and still have 20% batt left. I am happy with that.

I also had a talk with Verizon and they say there is yet another update coming to resolve some of the battery issues as well as other fixes.

If you have turn stuff off to get normal/acceptable battery usage then something is wrong. Turning stuff off doesn't fix the underlying cause. It's like keeping your AC off in your car to get better gas mileage. Yea you go further but you sweat your ass off while doing it. I would get with Verizon and try and fix root cause of the battery drain..

Did they happen to mention a time frame for the battery issue update..

I crindged when I eventually was forced to take the latest update. My battery usage was simply amazing before the update.. After, it is unchanged but the reason I kept refusing the update was because I was happy with my phone and did not want a "Fix" update to break my phone. I got lucky this time..

Now there is another coming.. Oh boy...
