Help Battery drain rate

Has anyone noticed the drain rate of the battery isn't that proportionate.

When I take mine off charge, it's immediately at 99%. I get that.
But then it goes down to 90% very quickly before slowing down.

Is that just me?

From what I understand phone batteries do not hold a complete 100%. Once it reaches a full charge it drains a bit and charges back up. Has to do with preserving the life of the battery I believe.

I'm on 4.0.4. Is that the latest? (Not being lazy - just asking as don't want to check in case it starts downloading over 3G and costs me a bomb!)

I have 4.0.4 but baseband is LF2 which sounds like it may be the previous version. Must be annuodated baseband that rectified things.

My phone does the same thing, as soon as it is unplugged it changes to 99%

Here is what I got out of yesterdays charge..

It's all relative to how one uses their phone. But on a regular workday, I get 3-4 hours for every 15%. This usually involves making couple calls, texting several times, light browsing and just fiddling around with the phone. I have Google synced. I have atleast 50% when I leave work at 5.

For Lithium-Ion there is not an accurate way to measure the charge left. So, they have to estimate it. Companies write programs that use a combination of things, including past performance, to estimate current battery remaining. This is why you can see your battery go up after you get off a call, or stop something major. It was guessing before, and changed its guess after.

While plugged in, the phone is going to see slightly different voltages and such. When you unplug, the program needs time to figure out where exactly it is. As mentioned, batteries bounce from something like 90-100% ( IE: Charge until 100, stop...when 90 is hit, charge again. approx. ) They don't want you to freak out when it suddenly drops to 93, so they fudge it. Start at 100 ( or 99 ), and work their way down, until the displayed percentage matches up with the current percentage estimate.

So, there are a combination of things causing the behavior you see...and it's all normal. The main thing you should take away is that the number you see is just a guess.

Is 12 hrs considered low?

Normal is 4-96 hours. Usage has an absolutely massive affect on the time.
