How do I save battery from apps I'm not using from running while not actually on them

Have you gone through 'Optimize battery usage' in settings? If you haven't, please do so. It can make a substantial difference.
Also run the preinstalled app 'Device Care' to help in the process

Just did all that. How often should I do that and thank you for response

i do that every few days or so....or whenever you see excess battery drops
