Help Battery Drain

I've had this phone for a few months and really liked the battery life. About a month ago, I bought a spare battery off Amazon. It was advertised as the Samsung battery and it looked identical to my original battery but it faded much quicker and I returned it. Ever since then, my original battery drains quickly as well. Now, running only Google Navigate, with wifi and bluetooth disabled, as I drive, it will lose 1% every 2-3 minutes. A battery that used to last all day goes in a few hours.

Any idea how I can address the issue? Is there any chance the second battery caused this trouble?

Some success at last although it is annoying.

I had the same issue with battery draining with the SGS3 becoming little more than a handwarmer. Phone is normally in flight mode.
This problem has not happened on the Samsung Tablet 7 and 10 inch we have (although they both have issues with SD cards...).

SGS3 : removed all music from sd card and iSyncr'd it back on, I had read that a rogue file might have been looking for something on the net which makes media download melt the battery (I suspect its really just poor programming).

Using GSam battery Monitor which is simple to use and definately helps. I appreciate there are several ways to stop active tasks but GSam works for me. I tried Juice Defender Paid on its most extreme setting but it did not extend battery life and it did not stop the Media burning the battery

So now, each time I use the S3, I turn off wifi and make sure it's in flight mode. In GSam / App Usage. select Media / Manage - Downloads / Force stop. Repeat for each of the hi ranking user apps in GSam (example Google Services, Facebook, Play store..

Seems to work. Went all night last night with just 3% battery used NB in Flight mode and no wifi. I normally turned it off to save power.

Recommend the (fat) double-sized battery with replacement phone-back. Just bought a power bank 3200 mah (thinner). Anyone want an otterbox case ?

I could use the Otterbox. Mine is a bit worn.
