Help Battery Drain

Hey, this is my first time posting on here. I have had an S3 for about 6 months now, working fine until a few days ago- the battery drains incredibly quickly. I lose about a couple of % a minute. Even when charging, the battery level actually goes down (albeit more slowly). Having read in other forums that file/SD corruption can cause this I backed everything up and did a factory reset- even before I had restored the backed up data the same problem occured. The only way to charge it is to turn it off, charge it then turn it back on. When turned off it seems to charge normally. Any ideas as to what's happening/solutions?

Thanks :)

Lots of possibilities, but no way to check which one is causing the problem without having the phone in hand. It sounds as if some component has gone bad, causing a constant drain. If that's the problem, it won't show in the list of apps in the battery screen - the apps will still all be drawing about the same percentage of total drain.

As far as which component it is ... only hands-on troubleshooting can determine that.

Welcome Alexhewitt234 :)
If it is a component as Rukbat says, I suppose the simplest part to change would be the battery depending on that age of it.
Seeing as you did a reset and still have the issue, I would doubt it is an app, unless you redownloaded all the original apps after the reset.
How is your signal? Has that changed at all in the past couple days?

I managed to get it sorted now, thank you both for your advice :) It actually turned out to be a combination of two problems- the first it turns out was fixed by the factory reset (a faulty app using up way too much power) but I didn't notice because of the second - seemingly a hardware issue- it doesn't charge properly on my charger, but does on my friends. I assumed it was a faulty charger, but interestingly her phone charges fine on mine... So for now we have swapped leads and the issue is (sort of) solved :')

And for the record I live in South Wales- It's a rare occasion on which I can get signal at all :P

Thanks for your help, it's appreciated.
