Help Battery Draining on Galaxy S2

The Rad

Lurker
Hi folks,
I encountered a problem recently when turning on my phone. 'TwLauncher has stopped unexpectedly' which causes the phone to restart. I went to delete the TwLauncher cache but accidentally deleted data. This actually fixed the launcher failing when turning on the phone, but ever since my battery has been draining crazy fast and heating up.
I tried recalibrating the battery which actually fixed the problem for a day, until the next day it was back to draining fast. "Google Play Services" is using over 50% of the battery.
Anyone have an idea or two?
I have Android 4.0.3.

Hi,
Upgrade the software OS.
Factory reset the device.
Settings>storage>apps> google play services>uninstall updates.
Open Google drive or inbox.
This prompts to update google play services
Settings >storage>cached data>clear cached data.
Reboot /restart device.

Well thanks for the advice. I have performed everything on this list. The hard reset seemed to fix my battery problem, although when I turned my phone on for the second day, it was back to draining in a few hours. During the first day I had reinstalled a few apps and set up my google account and email program.
The hard reset temporarily fixed the problem, does this mean there is something reinstalling that is the problem?
Also, my photos stored on the device weren't deleted in the hard reset, does that make sense?
