Help Battery Drop in Galaxy S2

Hi guys,

I just got my samsung galaxy s2 a couple of weeks ago. I always have it charged every night. I never had any battery problem until today when it suddenly turned off. When I plugged it in I saw the battery usage went from more than 90% to 0%. I didn't install any app lately so I don't know what could be causing this. Has anyone had this problem?

Thanks.

After reading some forums, I learned about battery calibration. My phone is not rooted. But is it still possible that this may be the problem?

battery calibration might help but since u are not rooted its not possible. anyway its very weird thou... i can`t help you with that, sorry! but i hope someone here will!

Thanks Twinn. It might be a battery problem. It wouldn't go down abruptly if it was a runaway app.
Would leaving it plugged in to the charger at night cause this?

i dont think so as ive left my phone connected to charger many times when i was sleeping and never had such issue. it doesnt look like some app used that power either, rather like u would put diffrent battery, not charged one but it didnt happen in your case so... i have no idea, sorry :(

This has happened to me with my phone also but not such a severe drop in % like you only say 10-15%. I have calibrated my battery and also left my phone on charge all night. I just put it down to custom roms or a rogue app but since leaveing it plugged into the mains charging for the night 2 nights in a row the problem seems to have gone away now touch wood. Have you got a friend or family member who has a a GS2 that would swop batteries with you to see if the problem happens to them ? Just a thought.

Also, you need to check whats causing you so many wakelocks.
check your accounts sync settings, latitude settings, email frequency settings and also take a good look at all the extra widgets you've put on your homescreens.

And set your wifi sleep policy to never when plugged in. Its currently set to never sleep which will be a big battery drainer.

woah thats.. extreme. i had a slight drop like this (a vertical drop) of about 5-10% max, when i reboot with CWM.. but nothing close to this, i have no idea wats going on here

btw, home button+power button to take a screenshot :)
