battery help.

Lurker
I purchased my Galaxy S3 in Nov. The battery has not been great but it would stay charged through the day. Yesterday I began will a full charge and by 3:00 it was totally drained. I charged it to full and went to bed. Woke up this morning and it was already yellow. I charged it to 60% when I got to work and it is again in the yellow already. I have only used it to send 5 texts. I have NQandroid booster installed. It allows me to shut down running apps that I do not want. The only thing that I have done in the last few days is allow the avaist security to update.

HELP

Have you checked if your battery is inflated?
Spin it on a smooth, flat surface on both sides of the battery. If it spins without much resistance, then you need to get a new battery.

Don't worry about closing apps. You are making the problem worse. Android handles that automatically for you. DO NOT use any task killer like NQandroid Booster or a memory optimizer. They actually waste power and may disrupt critical system processes and degrade performance. And the more they are used the worse it gets.

Android is excellent at handling processes and memory with no help from 3rd-party apps or user assistance. Just let Android do it's job, relax and enjoy your phone.

Thanks for all the help. It gets really confussing. Some say turn off GPS and WiFi. others say those make little or no differance. I got the Booster app that I have after reading on a droid review that it was one of the best apps you could have. Now I hear that I should never use apps of this kind. I am going to take all the advice and weed it out for my self. I appreciate all the in put.

NQ Ram Booster is trash. Unnecessary, counterproductive and possibly even harmful. Uninstall immediately.

Again, let Android handle RAM and processes. It needs no help. If you didn't already, go back and read the link in my last post.

And turning GPS/WiFi and Bluetooth off when you don't need them WILL save power (not much, but it helps).

Turning off GPS makes no difference since it draws zero power except when needed and active like when using maps, etc. IOW, if the GPS icon is not visible GPS is effectively off.

I let Y5 handle switching WiFi. Very simple, effective, efficient. Eliminates the need for manual control.

I have uninstalled the booster. Now is there anyway that I can restore the phone so that my battery lasts as well as it did before?

Either do a factory reset or, if you use the phone a while it will eventually unlearn the bad habits the Booster taught it. I can't say how long that will take though.
