I have tried numerous draining/100% charges while off. but still the same

I have heard of rooting a phone and deleting the battery stats file. but not sure i want to root the phone. can you unroot later on?

any ideas?

The icon is of little us really and I suspect that what you re seeing is that there needs to be a 20% drop before the icon changes.

Mine is currently 35% and the icon looks more like 50%.

I have a widget on the home screen which is far more reliable

Who knows, can't say I'm too bothered as I rely on the widget which is far more accurate.

This type of battery indicator tends not to be that useful even on other phones.

Just looked at my phone now 32% and the battery sybol is showing something about right.

It's always been like it on mine too, but I too have a homescreen widget for battery.
It's a well known bug, just not worth whoever should be fixing it's time I guess.

I ignore the top bar icon. Way to small to be of any use.

I have a battery widget on the home page. it reads in 1% increments.
