Battery issue since last Android update

Since the last Android system update that got pushed out to my phone on the evening of Nov. 5, my battery life has been non-existent. I've only owned the Pixel 2 since the beginning of September and have had not battery issues until now. I was going more than 24 hours without needing a charge, but since Nov. 6, my phone dies within 8 hours, and that's with minimal use. (I'm a teacher and not on it much at all during the day.) I've tried Google Help chat, and they had me run through all the things I had already done - checked for unusual battery usage by an app (negative), check for app updates (have them set to auto update each night when charging), try putting it in safe mode, etc. The last thing they asked me to do is a factory reset, which I'm hesitant to do because I don't want to deal with logging back into everything. Has anyone else had unusual battery life issues since a system update, or do I just have a bad phone?

I hate to say it but every major system update I have gotten starting way back with my first android phone the Motorola clique to my lg g6 and everything in between I have had problems with. The number one issue is battery drain.
Even do though you don't want to do it the factory reset might be your best option. When you reset the phone and it goes through the set up process, the new system update gets a better chance to integrate with your phone.
Just my two sense.
Hopefully someone will come along explain how you should hook your phone to a computer, run decryption software hack into a government super computer to unlock some secret battery program on your phone which should give you endless battery life:specsdroid:.

I've had no problems with the November update - for me it's been an improvement because the October one resulted in my phone locking up and restarting every few days. So I think it is probably a conflict with something in your particular setup or data.

The problem is that it's very hard to guess what. That's why it may come to a reset.

....got to admit as my first experience of google phone...I like it as physical device ... but think google could have done a bit better

i don't know every device is different. my note 8 on pie has gotten really good battery life. some days it is amazing, and other days its pretty good. it varies, but overall performance has been amazing.
