@Bombayboyzone

I think you'll come to acknowledge that 1.5 days is EXTREMELY good. usually mine lasts about 19h on regular usage, 1.5 days I can get if I don't really use it as much.

Well yeah, 1.5 days is more then enough actually. However my battery is lasting longer for like 3 days and still not empty. And approximately a usage of 1-2 hours a day.

Yes, I agree with RyDeR`.

However, if you are rooted you can try to calibrate your battery. I just performed this sequence of operations last night and so far it's doing much better than normal, 4h since unplugged, 30m of display on, and still at 100% (apparently), but probably closer to 90%, unless my phone is glitched at 100% now!

EDIT:: I did notice before that my phone would be drained from 100% to about 20% in 12 hours, and then stick around 15% for another 6 hours. So maybe it was the calibration.

So its possible only if the phone is rooted? Being a newbie, can you elaborate on calibrating the battery part.

And one more, my 5801 is taking almost 2 sec to bring the key pad or the history each time once I've updated the phone book. Is it normal to have this much of waiting time?

Hey guys I just wanna know when the battery usage statistics says " ANDROID SYSTEM" is guzzling most of the power what steps I can take beside the traditional blutooth off, wif fi off,, gps off etc... to save on my battery

I think you have to be rooted yes. There are a couple manual ways to calibrate the battery, but I just used "Battery Calibrator" on the Android market. It seems to have worked pretty well. I go about 14h and I'm only down to about 60%. So so far I'm pretty happy!

Bombayzone, I would suggest reading this post:
UnumMundum: Battery Life On Android!!

I noticed that the main app from the list in that blog that helped me was droidwall. I now block almost all apps from using the 3g network. Not only does this block ads, but it limits the traffic, and hence improves your battery life. I only allow my essential apps, such as K-9 Mail, Maps, Market, Browser, and Messaging (For picture/video messaging).

Is there a way to view the battery percent? I also find that my phone always dies because I overestimate how much battery it has left

Hopefully the new firmware that's due will fix the battery metering issue. This handset has actually a quite powerful battery 1700 ma/h and low res display. So it should last 3-4 days with normal use. I have managed 3 days of average usage.

PS! Guys and girls who have upgraded to unofficial froyo, does it affect positively battery metering? Have they worked on it???

Hi everyone!

Beware of Battery issue!!

Here is my story.
0. After going up to 2.2 Froyo, 8 hours standby and 20 min. talk the battery is dead. Previously with 2.1 there was no problem at all.
1. Got the phone with 2.1, battery lasted 1-1,5-2 days
What was running: 3G Exchange server, emails on Push mode, 24H a day.
battery handled it, no problem.
2. Upgrade to 2.2 with Kies thru Vodafone not to loose the guarantee.
3. After upgrade the phone crashed several times, after hard reset (loosing all your data... and apps), only the calendar crashed from time to time... as the least important app!... :(
4. After normalizing the OS, the battery issue came up: with 3G Exchange server company emails and moderate talk time (1h) it lasted 8 HOURS!!! At 3 pm. it was dead so I stood there with no phone. i read all the forums, turned all the background processes off, used all the tricks, etc. no result...
(BTW is there a way to have this phone making noise when the battery reaches a certain level, so people can act? THX)
5. Phone goes back to Voda to repair and comes back saying phone has no defect... all parameters as it should be... But they put a new version of the 2.2 onto it, real factory thing... not he Kies like junk.
6. Phone in use again, speed is increased HUGE, happy me but with same Exchange and some talk time at 3pm. the phone has gone...
7. Phone goes back to Voda again saying with 2.1 has no problem so they either put it back to 2.1 or give me another phone which is usable...
8. Phone comes back with 2.1... same apps back again with similar talk time and see the miracle: at 3pm. the battery is 72%...

I don't know what's wrong with this Froyo thing but it is sure it is far from perfect.. :(
So I'm sticking with 2.1 for a while now, I don't know what to do...

Good luck ya'll
P
