battery issue

This started to happen a few days ago. I have the note for a year now. Its been shutting down as if my battery was in the red as in no power. I restart the phone and then it shows red. When i plug it in, it shows i have a lot more battery life. What would be the cause of this? I pulled the battery out and checked it. Its not bowed or expanded of what i can see. Its not able to spin like a top. Some days i run into this problem and somedays i do not. Im up for an upgrade and deciding to go with another brand.

Two ideas....

1. Your battery is on the way out, despite not being deformed;
2. Your battery stats are messed up so the phone has a poor calibration for the actual performance of the battery.
