Root Battery issues. I want to upgrade my OS

I have a samsung galaxy 5 and i want to upgrade the firmware from 2.2 to 2.3.7 cyanogen mod.
I've found a very nice tutorial in my native language, but it says that i have to charge the battery to 100% before I do it. I'm charging it while it's off, and it takes like 3-4 hours. When I disconnect the charger and turn it on, the battery level is 97%, and i have to charge it 1 more hour while it's on if i want it 100%
So, while it's plugged in with the usb cable, the battery should be 100%? Will my battery cause any problems?

No. This discrepency is caused by a few things, most notable:
  • Your batteries age (older=holds less charge) (This is probably a very minor part, depending on how old the device is)
  • The way Android charges the battery (it will not maintain 100 percent b/c that is not good for the battery)
  • The battery charge percent estimator. 3% is probably within error of the estimation.

Good luck rooting. :)

fwiw your battery doesnt need to be exactly 100%.... they just wanna be sure it doesnt die while updating/flashing
