ok so ive been reading all these great life span stories. but from what ive read, these phones are getting little usage out of them. i however use my phone all the time. texting, emails, surfing the net, calls,ect.... how can i get more than 4 hours out of my battery? ive even taken the phone back twice to get it replaced with a new phone, that hasnt even helped.
as you can see in just 14 minutes of those screen shots. ive gone from 100%% to 98% and i havent done anything other than take the screen shots and send them in a email???? any help or tips?

Looks like you have so many apps running, maybe go through all there settings and turn off obvious battery drains...

ok this may sound stupid but i have to ask. if i look in task manager it shows no apps running. how can i see what apps are actually running?

i just now put my phone on the charger about 11 hours and i was at 17%. i can deal with that, but what has me upset, a coworker has the verison version of this phone and he at 10hours still had 67% of his battery. granted i dont think he uses his phone like i do mine.

i will uninstall advanced task killer and see how it does the rest of the night. but i do have it set to the crazy mode to kill just about everything.

That's very bad practice for any android phone. Many apps killed by that app will soon reopen by itself and end up consuming more power than just leaving them in memory. It's better to let android OS just handle them in memory. Just remove the advanced task killer and see how it goes under the same usage pattern.

Other than that, what you need to do for even better battery life is to identify which apps are the main battery killers using monitor app like GSAM or Better Battery Stats. Once you find some culprit apps, adjust its sync setting properly or disable it.

I honestly don't think these phones have a battery issue at all, I have been doing the smartphone gambit since the iPhone had the original stranglehold on the smartphone market, and if you use the phone as the manufacturer intended it you will be hard pressed to find a smartphone that will last for hours on end, these aren't like your old Blackberry or Motorola flip phone. None of the three iPhone's I had would last more then a day of use before requiring a charge, and from what I can tell of my GS3 its not that much worse, it is a tad but I mean the sheer size of the screen should be enough to explain that.

Then you have all the bloatware apps that will push data to your phone, these certainly take up a good chunk of battery life, one thing I did certainly noticed drained the battery life pretty hard was S Voice and with some digging this is because it is constantly listening to the surrounding noise to hear the keywords to wake the phone up. I noticed the majority of my battery life getting wasted was coming from this and samsung/rogers bloatware doing its thing (device is not rooted, yet) Dropbox does its fair share in damage.

I haven't adjusted any of the settings really, I have turned auto brightness on, wifi and blue-tooth off, disabled as much bloatware as I could and pretty much just use a task killer app to make sure everything is done then frequently clear out my ram to make sure nothing is running, should average 14 hour battery life. This is with the phone always getting a full power LTE signal, haptic feedback on, 30sec auto screen off.

Before I adjusted a single thing after 10 hours I was still looking at on average over 20% battery life left. Will inform after I get solid numbers after turning of tons of un-necessary data use, would appear as if my device was also trying to sync pictures into its gallery from the blogs associated with my google account.

TL;DR - People need to stop expecting so much out of a phone and remember it is only a phone with a huge screen, 1.5GHz quad core CPU and HD graphics to boot. I am surprised the battery can last as long as it does for being 3.8V 2100maH.

Thought I would post how my battery lasted. This was charged to 100% and used as I would normally. Wifi on, GPS on, auto brightness, sync on, email, Facebook and weather syncing.

Thought this was not to bad actually. This is after cheating some of the settings such as disabling some of the apps etc

Why is there some need to attack people who only need a phone for occasional use but expect the battery to last through an entire day?

Not really, took the phone off charge at around 1pm, used for rest of day, then on bedside till 8am in morning and then used until around 4pm ish ... when the battery hit 10% .... was quite pleased with that battery life
