I had been having problems with the battery in my G2. Inconsistent discharge was driving me crazy. Some days it would drop, with out any use, down to the 30% after only 7 - 8 hours. Other days, when I would go to bed, it would be at 80%. Generally, the rapid discharge was more frequent.
I decided to hold out for the Lollipop update before doing anything else, specifically replacing the device with a newer/different brand. After several days in a row of barely making it through the day, I finally decided to do a system reset. I backed up all the information and settings using the back up app. When the phone rebooted, it then decided to install Lollipop. At first, it seemed like a good thing, however since the settings were saved on Kit Kat, the device could not restore the settings I saved.
The good news is after several weeks, the battery life has returned to it's performance from when I first bought it. I did have to spend hours trying to get the settings(sounds, alarms, appearance) back to my liking.
If anyone else is suffering inconsistent battery life like I did, do a factory reset. It saved me from having to buy a new device.
